Dr. Sercan Akyalcin DDS, MS, PhD

Dr. Sercan Akyalcin is currently serving as the Head of Orthodontics and Graduate Program Director at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Akyalcin developed his scholarship with continued support from The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and The American Association of Orthodontists Foundation. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, eleven book chapters, co-authored an orthodontic textbook, and has received many prestigious awards, including the 2019 Edward H. Angle Research Prize. He is a section editor (Orthodontics) on the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry. In addition, he serves actively on the editorial review boards of The American Journal of Orthodontics and The Angle Orthodontist. Dr. Akyalcin is the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists (NESO) representative on the Council on Education at the AAO and serves on the board of directors of NESO. He has been invited nationally and internationally to many forums and conferences as a speaker and an orthodontic expert.
