Ronald A. Bell DDS, MEd

Dr. Bell is professor of pediatric dentistry and orthodontics at the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina. The past department chair and director of the Postgraduate Program in Pediatric Dentistry at MUSC from 1990 to 2004, Dr. Bell currently serves as director of the Postgraduate Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at MUSC. He received his D.D.S. in 1973 and certificate in pediatric dentistry in 1978 from Louisiana State University, and a certificate in orthodontics from the Medical College of Georgia in 1987. He is a Diplomate and past director of The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Bell has presented over 200 professional presentations to state, national and international audiences on topics related to pediatric and orthodontic dental care. He has authored or co-authored 66 original articles and research abstracts in refereed journals as well as 10 extensive teaching manuals in the areas of growth and development and age-appropriate orthodontic interventions in children and adolescents. In addition to his academic activities, he maintains a private practice in orthodontics as an associate in a pediatric dental practice in Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is also the orthodontic consultant to the Craniofacial Anomalies Team of MUSC Childrens Hospital.
